Dr. Bill Boyer, Founder and Owner of Sports Performance Solutions begins providing a monthly Health and Fitness column in the Pottsville Republican newspaper. The emphasis will be on adolescent health and fitness issues. The first article appeared on March 23, 2010 in the sports section. Dr. Boyer will be varying his articles to include those on current nutrition, fitness, mental preparation, conditioning and sport specific columns.
SPS SPONSORS TEAM IN UPCOMING TOUGH MUDDER COMPETITION

Sports Performance Solutions is currently sponsoring and training 10 athletes to compete in the Tough Mudder competition. The competition will be held on May 2nd at Bear Creek Ski Area near Macungie, PA. The event is a grueling 7 mile and 17 obstacle challenge that tests the physical and psychological stamina of all participants. The competition was designed by British Special Forces members. Dr. Boyer is personally overseeing and planning the team training. Dr.
SCHLITZER REACHES 1000 POINT MILESTONE AS JUNIOR

Nick Schlitzer, junior, Pottsville High School recently reached the 1,000 point milestone as a junior. Nick is also an SPS athlete and completed the Advanced Conditioning for Basketball Program prior to the start of the basketball season. Nick has a relentless work ethic both on the court and in the training room. During the SPS program, Nick increased his vertical jump by 3 inches in just 10 sessions. Besides reaching his 1,000 career point, Nick has been a team captain since his sophomore year and has garnered a variety of awards since his freshman year.

On December 4th Jim Bova won his 12th MMA fight at the Soverign Center in Reading. From the start of the first round, Bova steamrolled over his opponent andf within seconds after the bell sounded slipped Tony Williams jab and secured an upper body clinch. Jim was well aware of his opponents standup skills and wasted no time in pinning Tony against the cage. Shortly after, Jim took Williams to the mat and secured top side control. Jim then went to work by driving knees into Tony's stomach and started an onslaught of punches.
